Neue Welt
Neue Welt is a former concert hall in Berlin. It had two halls, one seating 1,500 people and another holding up to 3,000. Both were rebuilt around 1950. In 1930, Adolf Hitler spoke there in front of Albert Speer, who later became First Architect. From the 1960s until its closure in 1982, it hosted pop and rock concerts featuring artists like Jimi Hendrix and Whitesnake. After standing empty from 1982 to 1984, the building was remodelled into a supermarket and roller skating rink. The Roller Skate Center Neue Welt operated until 1990. The name Huxley’s Neue Welt emerged informally as early as 1985 and became official in 1992. The venue has since been managed by Thomas Spindler, who previously organised concerts at the Ecstasy club in Schöneberg. Today, Huxley’s Neue Welt is a modern event space. The building retains its industrial character while hosting concerts, parties and other events. The surrounding area in Neukölln remains lively, with cafes and bars nearby. The venue’s history reflects Berlin’s changing cultural landscape over the decades.
