Komödie Düsseldorf

The Komödie Düsseldorf was a German boulevard theatre in the city centre of Düsseldorf. It stood on Steinstraße in the Altstadt, a street known for its lively atmosphere. The building itself dated back to a time when the area was already a hub for entertainment and culture. The theatre was founded in 1962 by Anija Gräfin Orlowska and Trude Schuster. It became famous for staging light-hearted plays with well-known actors from television and other stages. Over the decades, it hosted performances featuring stars such as Volker Brandt, Hardy Krüger jr. and Billie Zöckler. The repertoire included comedies like *Acht Frauen* and *Männerhort*, as well as adaptations of works by Loriot and Agatha Christie. Visitors found a small but lively venue where popular plays were performed in an intimate setting. The stage saw frequent changes of cast and programme, with productions ranging from farces to classic comedies. The theatre’s final years were marked by relocations after its original home closed, first to the Capitol-Theater and later to the Ibach-Saal of the Stadtmuseum.
