Cornal Tower

Cornal Tower stands as the remains of a tower house near Moffat in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. It occupies a plateau once surrounded by five farms. The site carries alternative names such as Polcornare, Cornal Burn, or Logan. Historical records suggest it once served as a hunting lodge for Scottish kings. In the 15th century, the land passed to the Carruthers family of Mousewald. Ownership later transferred to Johnstone of Coreheard and eventually to the Duke of Queensberry. The ruins hold significance as a former royal retreat. Only part of the north wall survives today. The tower’s plateau setting offers views across the surrounding countryside.
