Kath. Pfarrkirche hl. Rochus

The Catholic parish church of St Roch stands on the village green in Ollern, a hamlet in the municipality of Sieghartskirchen, Tulln district, Lower Austria. It is a modest late-baroque building with a round apse and a west tower, dedicated to the 14th-century French healer Saint Roch. The church has been listed as a historic monument since the 19th century. The present church was erected in 1743, replacing an earlier wooden chapel. Lightning struck in 1756, the choir was added in 1762, and the tower was altered. Repairs followed damage in 1809 and the sacristy was enlarged in 1827. A major restoration took place between 1868 and 1871. Inside, the two-bay nave has a mirror vault, stucco frames and a west gallery, while the raised choir shows pilasters and a Platzl vault. The high altar, built in 1763, carries an oil painting of Saint Roch adoring the Trinity by Josef Melchior Thallmann. The late-baroque retable is flanked by statues of Saints Sebastian and Florian. A single bell, cast by Johann Caspar Hofbauer in 1817, hangs in the tower. The organ was installed by Friedrich Heftner in 1987.
