All Saints' Church, Gravelly Hill

All Saints’ Church stands in Gravelly Hill, a district of Erdington in Birmingham. The parish church belongs to the Church of England and was built between 1900 and 1901. Architect V.S. Peel designed it as a chapel of ease to St Barnabas’ Church in Erdington. In 1918 William Bidlake enlarged the building. The church was consecrated in 1928 and became a parish church the following year. The church’s history reflects the growth of Erdington in the early 20th century. In 1929 a new parish was created by taking land from St Barnabas’ and St Peter and St Paul’s in Aston. Part of the parish was later used to form a new parish for St Mark’s Church in Stockland Green in 1934. These changes show how the area’s religious life expanded as the community grew. Inside, visitors find a simple yet dignified interior with a nave and chancel. The church retains many of its original fittings from the early 1900s. Stained glass windows add colour and light to the space. The building sits on a quiet street in Gravelly Hill, surrounded by terraced houses and mature trees.
