Cefn yr Ogof

Cefn yr Ogof is a hill west of Gwrych Castle, between Abergele and Llanddulas in Denbighshire. It reaches 204 metres and carries caves in its slopes. The summit looks across to the Clwydian Hills, Denbigh Moors, Mynydd Hiraethog, Snowdonia, the Great Orme, Anglesey and the Dulas valley. The hillside is split into three ownerships: land managed by Natural Resources Wales, private land around the castle, and common land on the western slopes. It has recently gained HuMP status for its prominence of over 100 metres. Large parts are also designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Visitors walk open access slopes and reach the summit for wide views. The caves add interest to the hill’s western side. Gwrych Castle stands nearby as a landmark. The mix of common, private and managed land shapes how the hill is used.
