Lochan Sròn Smeur
Lochan Sròn Smeur is a small freshwater loch in the Scottish Highlands, lying in the Rannoch Moor area of Perth and Kinross. It sits between two hills, Leacann nan Giomach to the north and Sròn Smeur to the south, with Lochan Lòin nan Donnlaich to its east. The loch stretches about 0.8 kilometres in length and is less than 402 metres wide at its broadest point. Its shape is uneven, with an average depth of 3.1 metres and a maximum depth of 10 metres near its deepest part. The loch covers roughly 50 acres and has a drainage basin of about 5 square kilometres. Its water level lies 345.6 metres above sea level, fed by the Allt Coire nan Giomach from the north-east. Water flows out to the west through the Allt Gormag and Allt Eigheach, eventually reaching Loch Eigheach. Visitors find a quiet, remote setting surrounded by moorland and hills. The uneven shoreline and varying depths create a natural, unspoiled atmosphere. The loch’s position in the Rannoch Moor gives it a wild, open landscape, ideal for those seeking solitude in the Highlands.
