Wildnörderer

The Wildnörderer is a 3,015-metre peak in the Nauderer Mountains, a subgroup of the Ötztal Alps in Tirol. It stands at the north-eastern end of a ridge that runs north from the Nauderer Hennesiglspitze. The mountain rises steeply above the Radurschltal valley to the north. Its summit offers wide views over the high valleys and glaciers of the Ötztal range. The climb is serious but the route is clearly described in alpine guides. Only experienced hikers with sure footing should attempt the final sections.
The usual route starts at the Hohenzollernhaus and circles the peak on its eastern side. It passes the Zollhütte before turning west into the Bergltal valley. The path is marked as far as the col between the Wildnörderer and the Brunnenwandspitze. Beyond the col the route becomes pathless, climbing steep, broken ground on the eastern flank. The last fifty metres require hands as well as feet to reach the summit ridge.
From the top the eye follows the long ridges and hanging valleys of the Ötztal Alps. To the south the Wildnörderer’s neighbour, the Hennesiglspitze, stands out against the sky. To the north the Radurschltal drops away in a series of steep steps. The route back can be shortened by descending the northern flank, but care is needed on the loose rock. The whole mountain shows the raw face of high alpine terrain.
