The Futurium stands on Alexanderufer in Berlin’s Mitte district. It is a museum and laboratory devoted to science, research and development. The German government launched the Futurium as a place for public discussion about the future. The building covers about 8,154 square metres across three floors. Permanent exhibitions occupy 3,200 square metres, while 600 square metres in the basement host special shows.

Inside, visitors find a Forum for meetings on science, politics, culture and civil society. The Futurium’s exhibitions explore possible futures through interactive displays. Visitors can experiment with prototypes and models of new technologies. The building itself is designed to encourage dialogue and collaboration among different groups.

Outside, the Futurium overlooks the River Spree and the Hauptbahnhof. Its modern glass façade reflects the surrounding cityscape. The site sits near the government district, linking research with policy making. The building’s open spaces invite visitors to linger and discuss ideas.
