The Parish Church of St Margaret
St Margaret’s Church stands in the village of Angmering, West Sussex, as a Grade II* listed building of the Church of England. The present structure dates from the 13th century, with a tower added in 1507. In the 19th century Samuel Sanders Teulon reorganised the interior between 1852 and 1853. The church belongs to the conservative evangelical tradition. Its exterior and some fittings are recognised for special architectural interest. The church has been served by notable clergy. The Revd Jos Nicholl MC, a decorated army officer, was rector from 1982 to 1985. The Revd Anthony Wells later became Archdeacon of France after serving from 1986 to 1998. Since then the Revd Mark Standen has held the post. The building’s Grade II* listing was confirmed in 1954. Inside, the church contains fittings from Teulon’s reordering. The tower and medieval fabric remain visible. The nave and chancel reflect Victorian design. The surroundings include Angmering village green. The churchyard holds gravestones from several centuries.
