Schernerskopf
The Schernerskopf is a 3 000-metre peak in the Venedigergruppe range of East Tyrol. It stands as a minor summit linked to the higher Kreuzspitze by a broad snow crest. The mountain has no summit cross, only a simple cairn, and local people call it Scheagnas. Routes reach it either from the Sajathütte or the Eisseehütte without needing glacier travel. Climbers often combine the Schernerskopf with the nearby Kreuzspitze, a 3 155-metre neighbour. The broad connecting ridge offers an easy scramble in summer conditions. A more technical option follows the South Wall via a protected via ferrata with fixed cables. The old South Gully, once graded III-, is now rarely used since the ferrata opened. From the summit the view stretches across the Sajatkar valley and the Wallhorn ridge. To the west the Dorfertal drops away, while the Timmeltal lies to the east. The Sajathütte sits in the Sajatkar below, a common base for these high routes.
