Schloss Singenbach
Schloss Singenbach stands in the village of Singenbach, part of the Gerolsbach municipality in the Pfaffenhofen district. It began as a fortified manor in the 11th century under the Edlen von Munninpach, who expanded it into a closed estate. By 1422 the Hofmark passed to the Herren von Frauenberg-Taufkirchen through inheritance. The Freiherren von Niedermair took control in the 17th century and operated a manorial court there from 1817 until 1848. After the family sold the property in 1849–52, the building became an inn. The structure is protected as a monument and listed under two Bavarian registers. It appears as D-1-86-125-40 in the monument inventory and as D-1-7534-0022 in the Bayernatlas for early modern archaeological finds. These entries recognise the site’s layered history from medieval manor to later inn. The designation covers both standing buildings and buried remains of the former estate. The complex reflects centuries of ownership changes and functional shifts. Visitors find a modest but historically layered building surrounded by the quiet lanes of Singenbach. The inn occupies the former residence, its walls holding traces of earlier phases. Nearby fields and the gentle Ilm valley landscape frame the scene. The protected area includes garden plots and outbuildings once tied to the estate. A sense of layered time remains, from medieval foundations to 19th-century alterations. The village itself offers few distractions, letting the old manor speak quietly of its past.
