Burg Dunningen
The Burg Dunningen, also known as Das Ziegelhaus, once stood near the present-day church in Dunningen. Built in the 11th century, it was recorded on the Rottweiler Pürschgerichtskarte by David Rötlin. Today only fragments of its foundations remain above ground. The site offers a glimpse into medieval life through its surviving ruins. Archaeological work has identified traces of the original structure and its surroundings. Historical records describe it as a lowland castle with a brick building at its core. Visitors can see the exposed foundations in a small fenced area beside the church. The remains lie close to modern houses, showing how the past sits within the present village. A quiet lane leads to the spot, where a few stones mark the castle’s former footprint.
