Glenflagler distillery

Glen Flagler was a Lowland single malt Scotch whisky distillery in Airdrie, North Lanarkshire. It produced the Glen Flagler and Killyloch brands. Distillation began in 1965 and the site closed in 1985. The buildings were demolished in 1988, though warehouses and blending facilities became Inver House Distillers’ headquarters. The original brand was later revived under new ownership. The distillery’s whisky has won recognition at the World Whiskies Awards. A bottle of its 40-year-old blend was voted the world’s best blended Scotch whisky. Collectors now pay between $600 and $1,500 for its bottles. In December 2019, a single bottle sold for $273,000 at auction. The brand also sponsors major sporting events, including the St Lucia Sailing Cup and Fiji Rugby Masters. Visitors to the site will find the converted Inver House Distillers headquarters. The original warehouses and blending rooms remain part of the complex. The surrounding area in Airdrie retains its industrial heritage. The distillery’s legacy lives on in the revived brand and its award-winning whiskies.
