The Tramshed stands in Woolwich, a riverside district of south-east London. It occupies a former tram depot built in the 19th century, its high arched roof and brick walls still visible inside. The building once housed electric trams that carried passengers across the Royal Borough of Greenwich. After decades of disuse it was restored and opened in 2019 as a theatre and drama school for young people.

The theatre is worth the journey because it offers professional training to children and teenagers aged eight to eighteen. Its artistic director runs workshops and productions that give local performers a stage. The change of name in 2019 marked a new start for the organisation, widening its reach beyond Greenwich and Lewisham.

Visitors find a large performance space with tiered seating and a sprung floor. Rehearsal rooms and teaching studios line the sides of the old depot. The airy interior keeps the feel of a working tram shed while serving new artistic purposes.
