Beinn Lochain

Beinn Lochain is a mountain in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. It stands 600 km northwest of London in the remote northwest of the country. The summit reaches 703 m above sea level, rising 489 m above the surrounding terrain. Its broad base spreads over 8.9 km across rugged country. The nearest town, Cove, lies 19.4 km to the south. The mountain sits among mainly hilly, forested slopes of mixed woodland. Dense conifers and broadleaf trees cover much of the lower ground around the peak. No major roads or settlements crowd the area, leaving the landscape quiet and wild. Walkers find long, unmarked paths winding through the woods and open moor. The climb rewards with wide views over Argyll’s glens and lochs. On clear days the Firth of Clyde appears to the south-west. The route is steady but never technical, drawing modest crowds of hill-goers. The mountain’s modest height keeps it free of crowds found on taller peaks nearby.
