Winklerbrunnen

The Winklerbrunnen is a recognised healing spring in Bad Soden am Taunus, set within the Wilhelmspark. It shares the park with two other springs, the Champagnerbrunnen and Glockenbrunnen. The source was uncovered in 1808 during construction of the Beyerbach family’s villa. Dr Beyerbach had the spring enclosed, though it only later took the name Winklerbrunnen after its subsequent owners. The villa itself was demolished in 1910 as part of park improvements, while the spring’s stone surround dates from 1924. The water is a sodium-chloride hydrogencarbonate thermal acidulous spring. A litre supplies a significant share of daily magnesium, calcium, iodine and iron needs. Doctors prescribe it for drinking cures and inhalations to treat stomach and bowel disorders, poor digestion, urinary infections and excessive sweating. The spring’s mineral profile makes it unusual among local sources. Visitors reach the Winklerbrunnen at the park entrance near Franzensbader Platz. The stone surround, unchanged since 1924, marks the outflow. The Wilhelmspark itself offers tree-lined paths and quiet benches beside the other two springs. The setting remains calm, letting the spring’s gentle mineral-rich flow stand out against the park’s green backdrop.
