Lichfield Garrick Theatre

The Lichfield Garrick is a modern theatre in Lichfield, Staffordshire. It was built in 2003 to replace an older arts centre. The main hall seats 562 people and the Studio seats 157. It is named after David Garrick, an 18th century actor who grew up in Lichfield. The theatre hosts touring shows, local productions and an annual Christmas pantomime. The Garrick runs programmes for young people and local schools. It produces its own plays and musicals alongside amateur groups. The theatre also supports artists and community projects throughout the year. It is managed by a charitable trust and works with the Lichfield District Council. Daniel Buckroyd is the Artistic Director and Chief Executive. The board is chaired by David Hill. The building has a natural ventilation system and won awards for its eco-friendly design. It includes a fly tower, orchestra pit and new front-of-house areas. The first production was The Recruiting Officer, directed by and starring Corin Redgrave. The theatre has won several awards, including Most Welcoming Theatre in the West Midlands.
