Pfarrkirche Hl. Ulrich

The parish church of Möggers stands on a hill in the southern part of the village in Vorarlberg. It is dedicated to Saint Ulrich and belongs to the Bregenz deanery of the Diocese of Feldkirch. The church has been under Denkmalschutz since its construction. The church began as a branch of Weiler im Allgäu, becoming an independent parish by the early 15th century. The original Gothic building was replaced in 1738 with a Baroque structure, completed in 1746. A restoration took place in 1885, and a porch was added ten years later. The church’s interior features frescoes by Anton Marte from 1909, depicting scenes such as the Ascension of Christ and the veneration of the Eucharist. The church is surrounded by a narrow walled cemetery. Inside, the nave and choir have plain white walls with a flat ceiling and simple arched windows. The high altar, designed in the Baroque style, includes a painting of the Crucifixion and figures of saints. Side altars, a pulpit, and a Lourdes grotto in the porch add to the church’s furnishings. The organ, built in 1896, completes the interior. Outside, a war memorial by Alois Reich stands near the porch.
