Burg Hohloch

Burg Hohloch stands on a narrow ridge above the village of Münsingen in the Swabian Alb. Built in the middle of the 13th century, it was a small spur castle with a tower-like main building only five metres by six metres. The site commands wide views over the surrounding valleys and forests.

The castle was raised in the 13th century and abandoned early in the 14th. Archaeologists have found traces of its stone walls and the foundations of the tower. Historians Günter Schmitt and Christoph Bizer have described the remains in detail.

Today visitors walk a short path from Münsingen to the wooded ridge. The low stone foundations are still visible among the beech trees. A wooden sign explains what once stood there. The quiet hilltop offers calm and sweeping views of the Alb landscape.
