Pagelsburg

The Pagelsburg is a hill in the Harz Mountains of central Germany. It stands south of Sieber in the district of Göttingen in Lower Saxony. The hill rises 545 metres above sea level. It lies 1.2 kilometres south of the Adlersberg. The Höxterberg is 0.9 kilometres to the east. The Großer Knollen is one kilometre northwest. The hill is recognised in geological guides for its distinctive features. Kurt Mohr’s guide describes the Pagelsburg among the western Harz summits. Walkers often pass the hill on routes between Sieber and the Adlersberg. The surrounding terrain offers clear views of nearby peaks. Its modest height makes it a manageable climb for most visitors. On the summit there is a small rocky outcrop. Paths lead up from the south and east sides of the hill. The view from the top takes in the Sieber valley and distant ridges. The Adlersberg and Großer Knollen frame the horizon. The quiet setting contrasts with busier parts of the Harz.
