FestSpielHaus

The FestSpielHaus in Munich’s Ramersdorf district is a youth culture and education centre run by the city’s youth office. It began regular theatre performances in 1995 on Quiddestrasse before moving to larger premises on Rosenheimer Strasse in July 2019. The building now hosts workshops, rehearsals and public shows for young people. The centre grew from a 1970s youth club in Neuperlach’s first supermarket, later expanding into theatre with the long-running group Kaschperl Prod. In 1982 staff founded the Kobold association, which created the Kulturwerkstatt Ost. After changing trustees in 1995 and gaining official status in 1999, it became a limited company in 2000 to run arts programmes for young adults. Visitors find a rehearsal hall, a small theatre space and studios for video and photography. The Yorick Theatre School trains actors and theatre pedagogues. Open days and competitions for young writers and cartoonists are held regularly, linking the venue to Munich’s cultural network.
