Kleines theater – Kammerspiele Landshut

The Kammerspiele Landshut is a small theatre in the city of Landshut in Lower Bavaria. It began in 1992 in a rear building on Neustadt 455 before moving to the Rottenkolberstadel, a protected historic granary. The new theatre opened in 1998 after conversion by the Munich architects Hild and Kaltwasser, who later won national awards for their work. The theatre is run as a non-profit limited company supported by the city, the Lower Bavaria regional government and the Bavarian Ministry of Culture. Directors such as Sven Grunert, Gil Mehmert and Johannes Schmid have staged productions here. Marcus Morlinghaus made his directorial debut at the Kammerspiele in 2004 with Klamms Krieg. Inside, the main auditorium seats up to 125 people and the foyer doubles as a second venue for up to 50. The stage measures eleven metres wide, 6.20 metres deep and 4.35 metres high. The building stands in a quiet part of the old town, close to the river Isar, offering a calm setting for performances.
