Arena Garibaldi – Stadio Romeo Anconetani stands in Pisa, a city on the Arno River in Tuscany. Built in 1919, it is mainly used for football and serves as home to Pisa S.C. The ground holds 25,000 seats, though only 12,508 are currently approved for use. The stadium honours Romeo Anconetani, a colourful Italian football figure who led Pisa during their Serie A years in the 1980s. It has hosted four matches of the Italy national team, marking its place in international football history. In 2001 the venue was renamed in his memory after his death in 1999. Visitors find a modern stadium with clear sightlines from every seat. The pitch is surrounded by four covered stands, each named after local landmarks. On match days the atmosphere rises as fans fill the lower terraces, while outside the ground cafés and bars prepare for crowds. Beyond the stadium, Pisa’s historic centre with its leaning tower lies just a short walk away.
