Moel y Gamelin

Moel y Gamelin is a hill in Denbighshire, North Wales, standing northwest of Llangollen. It is the highest point of a range that runs east from near Carrog to the Horseshoe Pass on the A542 road. The western part of the range is called Llantysilio Mountain, and the eastern part is Maesyrchen Mountain. The hill reaches 577 metres above sea level. At the top sits a round cairn of unknown date, about 30 metres wide and 1.8 metres high. The hill lies within the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Its position gives wide views over the surrounding countryside. The range stretches from near Carrog in the west to the Horseshoe Pass in the east. The A542 road crosses the pass, linking the valleys below. The cairn at the summit is a notable landmark on the skyline. Visitors find open moorland and grassy slopes leading to the summit. The round cairn marks the highest point, offering a clear vantage over the landscape. The area is quiet and uncrowded, with few man-made features. The Clwydian Range’s protected status keeps the scenery unspoilt. Walkers can follow paths that climb gently from the valleys below. The views extend across Denbighshire and into the Dee Valley.
