Erzbach

Erzbach is a right-bank tributary of the Enns in the Steiermark. It rises near the Plattenalm south of the Erzberg and soon joins the Ramsaubach. The combined stream then passes through Eisenerz, where it is joined by the Trofengbach, and continues north past the Leopoldsteiner See. The catchment covers about 256 square kilometres across the Eisenerzer and Ennstaler Alps and the Hochschwab group. Along its course it receives the Tullbach, the Große Fölz and the Kleine Fölz from the left, and the Seebach from the right after it leaves the Leopoldsteiner See. Further down it is joined by the Kalte Fölz, the Ofenbach and the Dürre Fölz before receiving its largest tributary, the Radmer Bach, just above Mandelboden. The Erzbach finally meets the Enns at Hieflau. Its valley offers walkers a quiet route through varied alpine scenery, threading between steep wooded slopes and open meadows beside the clear water. The Leopoldsteiner See, fed by the Seebach, lies in a basin once shaped by glaciers and is a popular stopping point for hikers.
