London Business School

London Business School stands on the edge of Regent’s Park in Marylebone, a quiet corner of central London. Its main site is Sussex Place, a row of terraced buildings designed by John Nash in the 19th century. Nearby are the Plowden Building on Park Road and the newer North Building at 27 Sussex Place. The Taunton Centre sits a short walk away on Taunton Place, while the Sammy Ofer Centre occupies the restored Marylebone Town Hall. A separate campus in Dubai offers programmes for students in the Middle East. The school was founded in 1964 after reports by Robbins and Franks recommended new business schools. It began with two professors and a small MBA class in 1966. Over the decades it added doctoral and executive programmes, including a global MBA with Columbia Business School. The school became independent in 1986 and now holds a royal charter. Its research institutes focus on entrepreneurship and business development. Visitors find three linked buildings at Sussex Place arranged around a Front Lawn facing the park. The Ratcliffe Building houses lecture halls and seminar rooms, while the Plowden Building contains offices and study spaces. The North Building is being enlarged and will soon carry the name of David and Molly Pyott. The Taunton Centre provides a library and recreation rooms, and the Sammy Ofer Centre offers executive teaching in a historic town hall.
