River Ceirw

The River Ceirw is a small river in north Wales, stretching about 14 miles. It rises in the hills near Carnedd y Filiast and Garn Prys, west of Cerrigydrudion in Conwy County Borough. After flowing east, the river turns southeast near Cerrigydrudion, running parallel to the A5 road past small villages like Llangwm and Yr Maerdy. It continues toward the Ddwyryd area before joining the River Alwen near Corwen. The river’s name recalls the time when many deer and other wild animals roamed the Welsh hills. Its clear waters wind through quiet farmland and wooded valleys, offering peaceful walks. The Ceirw’s gentle flow and surrounding scenery make it a quiet escape from busier places.
