FIFA headquarters
The Home of FIFA is a modern complex on Zürichberg, a wooded hill in Zürich’s District 7. It has housed FIFA’s offices since 2006 and stands out for its design and setting. Two thirds of the building lies underground, with five levels below ground and only two above. Inside, the complex combines workspaces with leisure facilities. It includes a fitness centre, a meditation room, parks themed by continent, and two full-size pitches—one for international football and one for beach football. Sepp Blatter once explained the dim lighting above ground by saying decisions should come from the people gathered there, not from outside light. Visitors find a quiet yet purposeful atmosphere among the trees of Zürichberg. The underground floors contain most of the workspace, while the surface areas offer open green spaces and sport facilities. The building reflects FIFA’s global reach through its themed parks and pitches, all arranged around a central idea of focus and connection.
