Moosberg
The Moosberg rises in the Solling range, a forested upland in southwestern Lower Saxony. It stands in the Hochsolling, the highest part of the range, surrounded by the Solling-Vogler Nature Park. The hill lies south of Boffzen and Dassel, about 1.5 kilometres east of Neuhaus. Three separate summits form the Moosberg, the highest reaching 513 metres. Trigonometric points mark each summit on topographical maps. The Hochsolling Observation Tower crowns the western slope of the Moosberg. It offers wide views across the Solling’s wooded ridges and valleys. Nearby, the Mecklenbruch is a raised bog and nature reserve of ecological importance. Neuhaus Deer Park lies close by, alongside a forest museum that explains local woodland history. Visitors walk through dense forests of beech and spruce on the Moosberg’s slopes. The observation tower provides a clear view of the surrounding countryside. The raised bog at Mecklenbruch shows rare plants and wetland habitats. The deer park lets visitors see red and fallow deer in natural enclosures. The forest museum displays tools and stories from centuries of woodland management.
