Haddenham Museum

Haddenham Museum sits in the Old Schoolroom of the Methodist chapel on Haddenham’s High Street. Run entirely by volunteers, it opened in 1998 to safeguard the village’s past. The collection gathers everyday household objects, farming tools, photographs and written records from the area. Local people first showed their support in 1988 when an exhibition attracted visitors who lent historic items. A public meeting in June 1998 secured a lease with the Methodist Church, and the museum opened on 1 November that year. Ten years later it marked its anniversary with a display of vintage vehicles and costumed actors from the Haddenham Players. Visitors find displays that explain how local families lived and worked. The museum arranges special exhibitions every few months and hosts talks for schools and community groups. It also publishes the Haddenham Chronicles, a yearly book written by villagers, and members receive a monthly newsletter.
