Burgstall Eulenschwang
The Burgstall Eulenschwang stands on the Schanzberg, a hill rising to 709 metres above sea level near the hamlet of Eulenschwang in the municipality of Egling. It was a small spur castle built in the high Middle Ages, now reduced to a low mound. The site is listed as a protected archaeological monument in the Bavarian state atlas. The surviving remains form a roughly circular tower hill about three to four metres wide at the top. It sits on the northern slope of the hill, just west of the farmhouse numbered Eulenschwang 3. No walls or buildings remain above ground, only the earthwork platform. Visitors find a quiet wooded hillside with open views across the valley. The track to the farm leads close by, making the mound easy to reach on foot. The site shows how small medieval watch-posts once guarded the surrounding countryside.
