Au am Leithaberge Church
The parish church of Au am Leithaberge stands in the northern part of the village green in Au am Leithaberge, a small settlement in Lower Austria. It belongs to the deanery of Weigelsdorf within the vicariate of Unter dem Wienerwald in the Archdiocese of Vienna. The building is protected as a listed monument. A parish was first recorded in the 14th century and remained under the Diocese of Győr and the lordship of Scharfeneck until 1785. In 1876–77 the present church was erected by architect Ludwig Wächtler and master builder Anton Mittermann, partly reusing the medieval predecessor. A major interior restoration took place in 1992. The church faces north and is partly enclosed by a medieval wall heightened in the baroque period. Its single-nave design mixes neo-Romanesque and neo-Gothic features, ending in a five-sided choir apse. Inside, a 1930 organ by Huber Orgelbau stands behind a neo-Gothic case.
