Pfarrkirche Heiliger Geist

The Pfarrkirche Heiliger Geist stands in the Dornach-Auhof district of Linz, Upper Austria. It serves as one of eight parish sub-communities within the Pfarre Urfahr. The church was built to meet the needs of the growing eastern part of the Pfarre St. Magdalena. The church was completed in 1971 after construction began in 1966. It was designed by architects Erich Scheichl and Franz Treml and consecrated by Weihbischof Alois Wagner. The interior features a central space with four slender columns forming a cross shape. Notable artworks include a late Gothic Madonna and Child, a 16th-century figure of the Risen Christ, and a 19th-century bleached crucifix. Visitors find a striking concrete structure with large window bands and two imposing portals. Inside, the central space is surrounded by a lower weekday chapel and connecting corridors to the parish hall and kindergarten. The church houses works by sculptor Jakob Kopp, including the altar and tabernacle, as well as tapestries by Fritz Riedl and a Christmas crib by Josef Sepp Moser. The organ was built between 1984 and 1988 by Fritz Schild.
