Pfarrkirche Losenstein

The parish church of Losenstein stands in the small town of Losenstein in Upper Austria. It is a Roman Catholic church dedicated to Saint Blaise and has been under official protection since the 14th century. The building combines Gothic and Baroque elements, with a two-bay choir and a single-nave nave. The church is worth visiting for its well-preserved Gothic details. The choir vault shows frescoes from 1380, restored in 1905, while four stained-glass windows from around 1400 depict scenes from the life of Christ. The high altar, completed in 1693, features a painting by Johann Karl von Reslfeld, and the Baroque pulpit dates from the same period. The church also houses a bell cast around 1340. Inside, visitors find a single-nave space with a flat dome ceiling and a Gothic tower at the southern corner of the choir. The sacristy contains a Gothic fresco of the Crucifixion discovered in 1951. The Taufkapelle holds a 17th-century font and a statue of Saint Anne from the early 18th century. The church’s exterior features a steeply pitched roof and Gothic windows, adding to its historic character.
