Schloss Wachenheim

Schloss Wachenheim stands in the small Palatinate wine town of Wachenheim an der Weinstraße. Built around 1730 in the rural Baroque style, it began as a winemaker’s estate set in a landscaped park where 250-year-old trees still cast shade. In 1880 the local wine merchant Georg Böhm bought the property and added a sparkling-wine factory beside it. The ensemble survives intact: the arched gateway, the administration building, the grand marble hall and the bottling hall all retain their original architecture. Later additions in the 20th century expanded the site without altering its character. Today the estate houses the Schloss Wachenheim AG and doubles as an event venue. Visitors walk through the gateway into a park framed by ancient oaks and limes. The marble hall’s polished surfaces catch the light, while the bottling hall echoes the rhythms of modern production. The surrounding town offers wine taverns and vineyard paths, linking the estate to the wider Palatinate wine landscape.
