Fliegende Bauten Hamburg
The Fliegende Bauten is a private theatre in Hamburg known for its unusual international productions. It stands in the southern Wallanlagen, a green space near the Millerntor U-Bahn station. The theatre began as a travelling group in the 1980s before settling in Hamburg in 1999. The theatre is recognised for its focus on the New Circus and body art. It has hosted performances by artists such as Gustav Peter Wöhler, Roger Cicero and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Guido Marc Gosch, a cultural consultant, took over the management in 2009 and ran the theatre until its closure in 2014. Visitors found a large four-masted big top with a stage under a canvas roof. Inside, shows mixed acrobatics, dance and music in ever-changing programmes. The tent stood on the Glacischaussee near the Heiligengeistfeld, offering a striking setting for performances.
