Burgstall Streiflesberg

The Burgstall Streiflesberg stands on the eastern slope of the 491.6-metre Streiflesberg hill near Gottwollshausen, a district of Schwäbisch Hall in Baden-Württemberg. It was once a small hilltop fort, now reduced to earthworks and ditches. Two separate sites remain, known today as the Upper and Lower Wiesenstein. No written records survive to explain who built the fort or when it was used. The lack of historical documents leaves the purpose and fate of the Burgstall uncertain. Only the grass-covered ramparts and shallow trenches mark where wooden towers and palisades once stood. Visitors walk along quiet woodland paths to find the two grassy clearings. The Upper Wiesenstein offers a view across the valley towards Schwäbisch Hall. The Lower Wiesenstein sits closer to the hill’s edge, where the ditches are deepest. Both places are quiet spots for a short exploration of medieval earthworks.
