Pfarrkirche Traun-St. Martin

The Pfarrkirche Traun-St. Martin stands in the St. Martin district of Traun, a town in Upper Austria. This Roman Catholic church dedicated to Saint Martin belongs to the Traun deanery in the Diocese of Linz. It is protected as a listed building. The church was built in 1958 under architect Franz Zachhuber’s plans, with structural work by Hans Aigner. Bishop Franz Zauner laid the foundation stone on 17 August 1958 and consecrated the tower and bells on 21 December that year. The church itself was consecrated by the same bishop on 20 November 1960. In 1970 parish priest Ignatius Koller dedicated the organ, and in 1978 he consecrated the newly designed Marienkapelle. Inside, the church has a cross-shaped nave with an open roof over the long hall and transept. The tower houses the bells, which first rang at Christmas 1958. The plain white walls and simple furnishings create a calm space for prayer and reflection. The Marienkapelle, added later, provides a quiet side chapel for devotion.
