Grabhügel bei Kölln-Reisiek

The Grabhügel bei Kölln-Reisiek is a Bronze Age burial mound in a quiet wood near the Krückau river in Schleswig-Holstein’s Pinneberg district. It stands in the Wiedeholz woodland, a short walk from the Krückau-Wanderweg path that follows the riverbank. The small hill lies off the main road network, reached only by a short detour into the trees. The mound is about seventeen metres wide and half a metre high, its flat top and gently sloping sides now softened by decades of moss and low vegetation. A single large erratic boulder marks its western edge, while alders and spruces grow across its surface, helping to hide it from casual view. Experts from the Landesamt für Vor- und Frühgeschichte once placed a sign here to mark the protected site, though the sign has since disappeared. Visitors reach the spot along the riverside trail and step onto the mound itself, where the ground feels firm underfoot despite the centuries of growth. The surrounding woodland is dense, giving the place a secluded feel even though the motorway is close by. The low profile of the burial mound blends into the forest floor, making it easy to miss unless you know where to look.
