West Harrow station stands in the London Borough of Harrow, on the Uxbridge branch of the Metropolitan line. It sits between Rayners Lane and Harrow-on-the-Hill, in fare zone 5. The line here crosses the road where The Gardens becomes Vaughan Road. The station opened in 1913, though trains had run through the area since 1904. It is the only station on this branch served only by Metropolitan line trains.

The station is unusual for having no ticket barriers at one entrance. Passengers heading towards Uxbridge can reach the platforms without passing through a barrier. The Metropolitan line is the only line on the network that runs express services, though on this branch they only operate southbound in the morning peaks. Semi-fast trains skip several stations further south.

During off-peak hours, eight trains per hour head towards Aldgate and eight towards Uxbridge. Morning peaks see ten trains per hour to Uxbridge, with some services running semi-fast to Aldgate. Evening peaks bring seven trains per hour to Aldgate and ten to Uxbridge. The station’s single-line status makes it a quiet, efficient stop on a busy network.
