Schloss Plausdorf

Schloss Plausdorf is a country estate on the north-eastern edge of Amöneburg in the Marburg-Biedenkopf district. The complex includes a manor house, a 16th-century water mill and early 20th-century additions. A five-hectare park surrounds the buildings on three sides, while the Klein stream flows along the north-western edge and feeds the mill race. The estate has passed through many hands since it was first mentioned in 1463. The von Schwalbach family built the Renaissance-style manor in 1565, and the ‘Steinerne Haus’ with its west-facing gable remains the oldest part. Later owners expanded the site, and in 1901–1914 the Goldammer family remodelled it into a historicist manor house. A fire in 2025 destroyed the roof of the main house. Visitors can view the estate from outside. The public woodland path south of the park offers glimpses through an open fence, and the water-protection area to the east comes within ten metres of the buildings. The main row of buildings stretches 130 metres east-north-east, with a second wing forming an asymmetrical U-shape around a courtyard.
