Pfarrkirche Donnersbach
The Roman Catholic parish church of Donnersbach stands in the village of Donnersbach in the market town of Irdning-Donnersbachtal, part of Liezen district in Styria. It belongs to the Ennstal and Ausseerland region within the Diocese of Graz-Seckau. The church shares Denkmalschutz status with nearby Donnersbach Castle since 2017. The building first appears in records in 1652. After alterations it became a parish church in 1786, separating from the parish of Irdning. The gallery bears inscriptions dated 1756, restored in 1826 and 1906, while altars and statues were renewed between 1962 and 1964. The church is built into the east wing of Donnersbach Castle, facing north and topped by a small onion dome. Its four-bay nave has plain round-barrel vaults on ribs and ends in a gently rounded closure. The walls carry flat pilasters with cornice capitals. The three-bay gallery is gently curved. Inside, the high altar and pulpit were carved by Johann Fortschegger in 1785–86. Side statues of Catherine and Barbara date from the mid-17th century, and a new tabernacle holds angels from around 1700. A life-size statue of St Peter belongs to the third quarter of the 15th century, while two Gothic figures of Wolfgang and Nicholas date from about 1480. An organ with seven stops was installed in 1781 and rebuilt by Matthäus Mauracher in 1895.
