The parish church of Micheldorf stands in the Upper Austrian village of Micheldorf, a quiet settlement in the Kirchdorf district. Built to honour Saint Joseph, it belongs to the Windischgarsten deanery within the Diocese of Linz. The church has been protected as a listed monument since its completion. The church’s history reflects the community’s long struggle for independence. Plans for a separate parish began in the late 19th century, but only after the First World War did construction resume under Richard Puchner’s revised designs. The building was finally consecrated in 1934, though further work continued after the Second World War. The present tower, designed by architect Vierthaler and built in 1977, houses four bells donated by the local council. Inside, the church displays a blend of old and new art. The nave windows were designed by Lukas Hummelbrunner in 1972, while the choir windows are the work of Basilia Gürth from 1981. Franz Kohler painted the frescoes in 1995, depicting scenes from the Book of Revelation and the creation of the world. The high altar, originally made in 1756 by Ignaz Mähl for Schlierbach Abbey, shows the grandparents of Jesus with Mary. The organ, installed in 1973 by Johann Pirchner, has 16 registers and 1,246 pipes.
