King Henry's Drive

King Henry’s Drive tram stop sits in the middle of a broad dual carriageway in New Addington, a residential district of the London Borough of Croydon. It stands on a wide central reservation lined with low brick walls and young plane trees. The stop has two low platforms with tactile paving and simple shelters. Trams glide past every seven or eight minutes during the day, linking New Addington with West Croydon through East Croydon and Centrale. The service is run by Tramlink using two types of modern light-rail vehicles. Bombardier CR4000 trams and newer Stadler Variobahn trams share the tracks, each painted in Tramlink’s red, white and grey livery. A handful of early and late services continue beyond Croydon to Therapia Lane and Wimbledon. Weekend evenings see the interval stretch to fifteen minutes, but daytime frequency remains high. London Buses routes 64 and 130 call at the stop, heading towards Addington Village, Croydon town centre and Thornton Heath. Passengers can change free of charge between buses and trams within an hour under Transport for London’s Hopper Fare scheme. The surroundings are quiet, with rows of terraced houses and small shops a short walk away.
