Park Lane Hotel

The Sheraton Grand London Park Lane is a grand Art Deco hotel on Piccadilly in the City of Westminster. Built in 1927 to designs by Adie, Button and Partners, it replaced an earlier scheme by C. W. Stephens, whose work on Harrods remains well known. The hotel stands with a mansard roof and Portland stone façade, overlooking Green Park towards Buckingham Palace. Its Grade II listing recognises its architectural importance. Inside, eight floors contain 303 bedrooms, each arranged to make the most of the views. The hotel has passed through several owners since opening. ITT Sheraton bought it in 1996 for $70 million, and Starwood later acquired the chain in 1998. In 2014 the freehold was sold to Sir Richard Sutton’s Settled Estates, though Starwood kept the management. The Sheraton name only appeared on the building in 2016, after a major renovation. Films such as The End of the Affair and The Golden Compass have used the hotel as a backdrop. Visitors find a blend of Art Deco elegance and modern comfort. The lobby’s high ceilings and polished floors set the tone for the rest of the building. Bedrooms offer views across Green Park or towards Buckingham Palace. The hotel’s position on Piccadilly places it within easy reach of Mayfair and Hyde Park. Its Grade II listing means every detail, from the stonework to the fittings, has been preserved. The recent renovation restored original features while adding contemporary amenities.
