Sparafeld

The Sparafeld is a 2 247-metre peak in the Ennstaler Alps of Styria. It stands east of the higher Admonter Reichenstein, separated by the Wildscharte col. Unlike its neighbour, the Sparafeld can be reached by straightforward paths and also attracts skiers on demanding tours. The mountain crowns an east-facing high plateau whose far west edge is the Riffel and whose southern tip is the Kalbling. Along the east ridge to the Wildscharte the Sparafeld East Tower rises above the Fingerscharte gap, with the Sparafeld Finger beyond it. The normal route climbs from the Klinke Hut past the Kalbling South Ridge and Speikboden to the summit. A longer northern approach from the Gofer Hut involves easy climbing and occasional steep snowfields. Ski mountaineers can also ascend from the Hintergoferalm, though the steeper northern line is harder than the gentler route from the Oberst-Klinke-Hütte.
