Afon Dulyn Round Cairn

Afon Dulyn Round Cairn stands on the bank of the Afon Dulyn in Caerhun, Conwy County Borough. It is a Bronze Age ring cairn, a type of prehistoric monument built by the Celts. The site marks a special place for rituals or to remember the dead. Cadw has listed it as a scheduled monument with the reference CN357. Ordnance Survey maps label it simply as ‘Cairn’. This ring cairn belongs to a different era from stone circles. It was built in the Bronze Age, around three thousand to four thousand years ago. The term ‘carnedd gylchog’ is the recognised Welsh name for this kind of site. Archaeologists use it in preference to other local names. Visitors find a low circular mound of stones set beside the river. The river flows past the cairn, adding to the quiet atmosphere. The surrounding hills rise steeply, framing the scene.
