Bolt Arena
Bolt Arena stands in Töölö, a district of Helsinki in Finland. It is a football stadium next to the larger Helsinki Olympic Stadium. The ground opened in 2000 and hosts HJK Helsinki in the Veikkausliiga. IF Gnistan also use it as a temporary home. The pitch measures 105 by 68 metres, meeting UEFA recommendations. The stadium has hosted major events such as the 2003 FIFA U-17 World Championship. It was chosen for the 2009 UEFA Women’s Championship, when the artificial surface was temporarily replaced with grass. In 2016 HJK Helsinki drew an average of 5,101 fans to their home games. The Finland national team qualified for UEFA Euro 2020 after beating Liechtenstein 3–0 here. A men’s Superpesis match in 2022 drew 886 spectators. Visitors find a covered stadium with room for 10,770 people. Floodlights provide 1,500 lux for evening matches. Under the pitch a warming system keeps the surface playable in winter. Plans have been discussed to expand capacity to 25,000 seats. The setting beside the Olympic Stadium makes it easy to reach by public transport.
