Schloss Biedenbach

Schloss Biedenbach stands in the village of Biedenbach, part of the market town of Velden an der Vils in Lower Bavaria. The building is listed as a monument and a protected archaeological site. Traces of medieval and early modern features remain beneath the grounds. Garden layouts, outbuildings and earlier construction phases have been identified. The site once belonged to the Reykher family from Landshut. The present three-winged structure dates from the late 17th century, with later alterations around 1720. A new wing was built for Georg Carl Anton Alois Adam zu Freyen Seyboltstorff, who served as a parish priest in Velden. The house chapel on the first floor still holds its original furnishings. A former stable block with a half-hipped roof belongs to the 18th century, while the garden was redesigned from the old parsonage garden around 1920. Visitors find a two-storey building with hipped roofs and a small bell tower. The main wing includes a raised terrace and the chapel above. The stable building and surrounding wall with gate piers date from the 18th and early 20th centuries. Mature trees and the former Herrengarten lie east of the house. The garden wall was heightened after the Second World War, enclosing the entire estate.
